THE SPECTRES GRAVEYARD WILL FEEL A TOUCH OF RIO'S CARNIVALE IN 2012 WITH THE SIGNING OF BRAZILIAN IMPORT CICERO GONZAGA - A 203cm (95kg) ATHLETIC SMALL/POWER FORWARD
The 25 year old from Brazil, played college basketball for North East Oklahoma A&M prior to returning to the Brazilian National League.
Gonzaga comes to the Spectres following a contract with Lupo/Araraquara where his outstanding production saw him average 11.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 2.1 apg in 19.0 mpg. Gonzaga has also received contracts with Minas Tenis, Vila Velha Basqueteball, and Assis Basket, in the Brazilian National League.
Gonzaga possesses a natural ability for the game and is a threat on both the offensive and defensive ends. His athleticism and strong vertical jump will make him a key component in the Spectres defense, while Gonzaga’s range will prove tough to defend.
2011 Coach of the Year, Dave Biwer, has been crucial in gaining the services of Gonzaga, commenting, “We got him! His athleticism and skill both on the floor and in the air is a significant addition to the team”.
After re-signing key players from the 2011 National Championship Team including Captain Shane McDonald, Chris Cameron and Simon Conn, Gonzaga will add versatility to the roster enhancing the clubs chances at consecutive titles.
